Our Mission

Sustainable coffee farm with workers carefully harvesting beans

Sustainability in Every Cup

At Drift Coffee Co., we believe great coffee starts with great responsibility. Our mission transcends merely serving exceptional coffee—we're committed to transforming the coffee industry through sustainable practices and ethical sourcing. Every bean we select comes from farms that prioritize environmental stewardship and fair labor practices.

We've established direct relationships with small-scale farmers across coffee-growing regions, ensuring they receive fair compensation for their expertise and dedication. These partnerships not only guarantee premium quality beans but also support communities that have cultivated coffee-growing traditions for generations.

Our roasting processes are designed to minimize our carbon footprint while maximizing the distinct flavor profiles of each origin. We believe that sustainable coffee should never compromise on taste—rather, ethical practices enhance the richness and complexity in your cup.

Why Choose Drift Coffee

Artisanal Quality

Every batch of coffee is roasted in small quantities to ensure precise control over the roasting process. Our master roasters monitor each batch by sight, sound, and smell, making adjustments to bring out the optimal flavor profile of each variety.

Ethical Sourcing

We pay premium prices to farmers who implement sustainable agricultural practices and provide fair wages to workers. These direct relationships ensure transparency throughout our supply chain and support the long-term viability of coffee-growing communities.

Freshness Guarantee

Unlike mass-market coffee that may sit on shelves for months, our coffee is roasted to order and shipped within 48 hours of roasting. Each bag is dated and sealed to preserve the complex flavors that make specialty coffee exceptional.

Frequently Asked Questions

For optimal freshness, store your coffee beans in an airtight container at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Avoid refrigerating or freezing your coffee, as beans can absorb odors and condensation can damage them when moved between temperatures. Ideally, purchase only what you'll use within 2-3 weeks of the roast date.

Light roasts preserve more of the bean's original characteristics, offering brighter acidity and more complex flavor notes. Medium roasts balance acidity with body, creating a well-rounded cup with chocolate and nut notes. Dark roasts develop deeper, smoky flavors with reduced acidity and more prominent bitterness, often featuring caramel or chocolate notes. The roast level doesn't affect caffeine content as significantly as commonly believed.

Yes! We offer flexible subscription options that deliver freshly roasted coffee to your door on your schedule. Choose from weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly deliveries, and select either our Roaster's Choice (where we send seasonal selections) or customize your own blend and roast preferences. All subscriptions include free shipping and can be paused or modified at any time.

Different brewing methods highlight different aspects of our coffees. For our light and medium roasts with complex acidity, we often recommend pour-over methods like V60 or Chemex. For our medium-dark roasts with chocolate notes, the French press brings out wonderful body and richness. For espresso, our Driftwood Blend is specifically developed for balanced shots. We include brewing recommendations with each coffee we sell.

Many of our coffees come from farms using organic practices, though not all carry formal certification, which can be prohibitively expensive for small producers. We prioritize sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship in our sourcing decisions. Each coffee's product page indicates any certifications it carries, including organic, Rainforest Alliance, or Fair Trade designations.
